Pride Beat Bandits in Extra Innings

VIERA, FL. (July 27, 2018) – The second game of the series against the Chicago Bandits was a close one until the end.

The game went to eight innings and the Pride pulled off the win in the bottom of the eighth.

Jessica Burroughs started in the circle for the Pride and threw five complete innings. Burroughs struck out one and gave up four hits against 18 batters faced.

Paige Parker came in to pitch for two innings, and she only allowed two hits.

The Pride finished seven innings of play still scoreless. Jolene Henderson came into pitch in the top of the eighth. Henderson gave up only one hit and struck out one.

Both the Pride and the Bandits went neck and neck the entire game, but no one was able to get a run across until the bottom of the eighth when the Pride scored to win the game.

The Pride got it going with a great at bat by Nicole DeWitt, who drew a walk and got the Pride their first base runner to start off the bottom of the eighth.

With one out, Allexis Bennett drew a walk as well, off Paige Lowary, the pitcher for the Bandits.

After a hard line out by Kelly Kretschman, the Bandits switched pitchers and put in Ally Carda.

Chamberlain walked off Carda to make the bases full for the Pride as Shelby Pendley stepped up to the plate.

Carda walked S. Pendley which walked in DeWitt from third to give the Pride the victory in the bottom of the eighth.

Great plays were made by both teams and the fans were highly engaged in this back and forth match up.

S. Pendley was named the Vaultz Lock It Up Player of the Game for drawing the walk to score the winning run of the game.

The final score of the game was 1-0 and the Pride improve their overall record to 37-2 on the season.

The Pride take on the Bandits one last time for game final home game of the 2018 season at 7 three of the series at 7:05 P.M. ET at the USSSA Space Coast Stadium.
