The USSSA Florida Pride are in Corpus Christi, TX for the weekend to take on the Akron Racers. The Pride are currently 1-3 after their series last week against the Chicago Bandits. The Racers are on a three-game winning streak after losing their opening game against the Carolina Diamonds.
The two teams are set to face-off in a series of 4 games starting tonight at 7:05 PM CT. The second game will be tomorrow at 7:05 PM CT, and the final two will be a double header on Saturday starting at 5:35 PM CT.
Hillary Bach made her debut for the Racers with a 5-0 shutout victory over the Diamonds last week. She comes into this series with a 0.70 ERA over two games pitched. Lisa Norris has a 1.75 ERA for the Racers as well.
Cat Osterman made her first appearance last week since last August, where she suffered an arm injury in the Championship games vs. the Bandits. Over 5 innings of work she posted a 1.40 ERA and collected 8 strikeouts. Danielle Lawrie also made quite an appearance to start off the 2012 season with a 3.00 ERA an 13 strikeouts. Lawrie is currently 2nd for strikeouts in the NPF behind Monica Abbott(24).
There are a number of Texas Athletes returning home for this series as well. Racers’ Lexy Bennett returns from the University of Texas as well as Pride’s Megan Willis and Cat Osterman. Pride’s Sarah Pauly returns from Texas A&M Corpus Christi as well as Racer’s Sharonda McDonald from Texas A&M.
