Osceola County, FL Designates August 6th 2012 as USSSA Florida Pride Day!

Commissioner Frank Attkisson presents the award

This is definitely exciting news for the county, for the Pride and for USSSA!

As quoted from the Osceola County Website:

Osceola Board of County Commissioners proclaimed USSSA Florida Pride Day on Monday during a meeting in which Commissioner Frank Attkisson had made a special presentation.

The Florida Pride roster includes 7 Olympic Medalists and 6 Women’s College World Series Champions. From May-August, the Pride players live and train in Osceola County. They practice and play home games at complexes in the area including the Fortune Road Softball Complex, Osceola County Stadium and ESPN Wide World of Sports.

The USSSA Pride have called Kissimmee, FL which is in Osceola County home since the franchise was moved here back in 2009. The players and team love being in the heart of Central Florida where they have access to some great local facilities and can enjoy the wonderful climate which allows for comfortable practicing weather year round and during the NPF season. The Pride took part in a parade through downtown Kissimmee earlier in the summer as part of their relationship with the City of Kissimmee and the County.

Local businessman Sonny Bueoncervello was key in introducing the USSSA Florida Pride to the Osceola County Commission and was invited to attend the presentation of the Osceola County Proclamation that henceforth August 6th 2012 will be known as USSSA Florida Pride Day. Pride star pitcher and US Olympian Cat Osterman wasn’t present for the presentation but was honored with a road sign for “Cat’s Way” as a thanks for the Pride’s presence and commitment to Osceola County.
