Pride Win Battle Against Beijing Eagles

VIERA, FL (June 3, 2018) –After a two hour lightning delay, the Pride added to the team’s win streak. An 1-0 victory over the Beijing Eagles and the team’s first win as the visiting team.

This win brought the Pride to a 5-0 record on the season.

Kelsey Nunley got the start in the circle for the Pride. In Nunley’s six inning debut, she only allowed three hits and struck out seven.

Jolene Henderson got the save for the game as she came in after Nunley gave up her second hit in the bottom of the seventh. Henderson in her two innings pitched didn’t give up a hit and struck out two.

Henderson earned Vaultz Lock It Up Player of the game for her save in the circle.

The bats took a while to wake up in this contest. The Pride recorded four hits as team, but managed to get the victory with great base running.

After a scoreless first and second inning for the Pride, Megan Wiggins started the rally with an infield single.

Allexis Bennett came up next and moved Wiggins over another 60 feet to second base. Sierra Romero then steps up to the plate with one on and nobody out.

Romero hits a high shallow pop fly behind first base, and with a miscommunication by Beijing, the ball falls to the ground.

Wiggins with heads up base running rounds third hard and takes off for home, and scored to put the Pride up 1-0.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Pride ran into trouble with a lead off double, given up by Nunley.

A pitching change brought in Henderson who got a ground-out and struck out the last two batters for the Beijing Eagles.

The top of the line up did well this afternoon, lead off hitter Wiggins scored the only run, and in the three spot Romero recorded the only RBI.

Sahvanna Jaquish and Mo Mercado both recorded hits during this match up.

Come out the USSSA Space Coast Stadium Monday, June 4 at 7:05 P.M. ET as the Pride will finish their series against the Aussie Spirit.
