Pride Dominate in Season Opener

VIERA, FL May 30, 2018– The USSSA Pride throttled past the Aussie Spirit on Wednesday
night in their home opener at Space Coast Stadium. USSSA exploded in an offensive frenzy to
beat the Spirit 13-1.

In the circle, Delanie Gourley got her first start and first win for the Pride. She gave two
hits, one earned run and struck out four in four innings of work. Jolene Henderson came in for
the last three innings, only allowing one hit while striking out three.

Sierra Romero got the offense going in the first when her double to right center scored
Megan Wiggins for the first run of the game. She continued her great performance at the plate
going three for four with a single, double, and triple just barely missing the cycle.

Romero was named the Vaultz Lock it Up Player of the Game for her efforts.

The Pride notched three homeruns on the evening with long balls recorded by Lauren
Chamberlain, Bianka Bell and Megan Wiggins.

The Pride recorded 11 hits on the game led by the top three hitters in the lineup—Wiggins, Allexis Bennett-Romero who went a combined 7-12 with 8 runs scored.

The Pride broke through the score in the bottom of the first, when Romero drove Megan
Wiggins to put USSSA ahead, 1-0. Entering the second with a two-run lead, the Pride burst again
with another seven runs including a homerun by Chamberlain.

Aussie Spirit answered back scoring a run off a wild pitch by Gourley, but the Pride
responded with an additional four runs to increase the lead to 12-1.

The Pride added one more inthe bottom of the sixth with Wiggins solo shot. Wiggins finished the game 2-3 with four runsscored from the leadoff spot.

Thursday May 31, the Pride will host the Spirit again, for game two of the six game
series. Game time is 7:05 p.m. EST at USSSA Space Coast Stadium.
