National Pro Fastpitch Reaches 16-Game Deal with ESPN: Six Games to Air on ESPN2; Additional 10 Games Streamed Live on ESPN3

Nashville, Tenn. – National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) has reached an agreement with ESPN to carry16-games across ESPN2 and ESPN3 , making this the largest TV deal in the league’s 10-year history. Six games will air nationwide on ESPN2 and 10 games will be carried on ESPN3. All 16 games will also be available on WatchESPN.

“National television coverage is paramount to the growth of professional softball ,” said Cheri Kempf, NPF Commissioner. “ESPN’s increased coverage of NPF shows they are confident in the tremendous potential for growth and popularity of this sport. We look forward to sharing the exciting action of professional softball with fans everywhere on ESPN platforms.”

ESPN2’s coverage will include a day/night double-header between the Akron Racers and Chicago Bandits on June 29 and a two-game stint between the USSSA Pride and NY/NJ Comets on July 20 and 21. The network will also air the final two games of NPF’s Championship series on August 23and 24.

In addition to the television coverage, ESPN3 will carry five double headers, for a total of 10 NPF games streaming on the live multi-screen sports network.

ESPN began airing the NPF in 2010, showcasing the opening game on ESPN2 and expanding  in 2011 to include the championship game.
