Kissimmee, FL– July 20th -The USSSA Pride (24-9) scored first and never looked back as they downed the Pennsylvania Rebellion (9-26) 7-1 Monday evening at Champion Stadium.
Pride racked up four singles in the first inning and took a 1-0 lead when Shelby Pendley drove in Natasha Watley. Pendley then stole second, drawing the throw and acrobatically avoiding the tag, allowing Megan Wiggins to swipe home without a throw. Shipman then laced a single through the left side of the infield, scoring Pendley from second for the third run of the inning.
Andrea Duran belted a two-out grand slam over the center field fence, increasing the Pride lead to 7-0.
The Rebellion loaded the bases in the seventh and ended the shutout with one out in the frame on Olivia Watkins’ RBI groundout. Williamson got the next batter to pop out, ending the game with a score of 7-1 Pride.
USSSA’s Cat Osterman (W, 10-2) tossed five shutout innings, scattering three hits and striking out 10 to pick up her 10th victory of the season. Andi Williamson finished out the final two frames, surrendering a run on two hits.
Pennsylvania ‘s Dallas Escobedo (L, 2-7) started in the circle and tossed 2.2 innings, giving up seven runs on seven hits. Allyson Fournier entered in the third inning and held the Pride scoreless the rest of the way, surrendering just a pair of hits over the final 3.1 innings.
The Pride and Rebellion will finish up the four game series tomorrow, July 21, at Champion Stadium with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
