Pride Take Game One in Texas, 6-2

The Pride take game one against the Dallas Charge in Sugarland, Texas 6-2. Cat Osterman earns her 13th win.

SUGARLAND, Texas – August 3- The USSSA Pride defeated the Dallas Charge, 6-2, in front of 2,121 fans at Constellation Field in Sugar Land, Texas.Cat Osterman earned the win, hurling a gem of a game, scattering five hits for 6.1 innings while striking out nine and allowing just one run.

The Pride broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the third on a sacrifice fly fromKelly Kretschman. The teams would exchange zeroes until the bottom of the sixth when the Pride exploded for five runs in the frame.

Kretschman’s lead-off single was followed by Megan Wiggins who reached safely on an error by the shortstop and then advanced to third allowing Kretschman to score. Andrea Duran replied with an RBI triple of her own before Madison Shipman‘s RBI single scored Courtney Ceo who entered to pinch run for Duran. Finally, a 2 out, 2 RBI single off the bat of Megan Willis scored Hallie Wilson & Brigette Del Ponte for the final two runs.

The Charge answered back with two runs of their own on an RBI double by Taylor Thom and an RBI single by Eri Yamada, but Kaitlyn Richardson’s line drive to first base would end the game after that.

Osterman threw 9 strikeouts while earning her twelfth win of the season, improving to 12-2 while Jolene Henderson (2-8) was tagged with the loss after pitching well, but trouble in the sixth inning hindered her performance.
