Pride Score Five in Seventh En Route to Victory

Washington, PA – July 8, 2014 – The Pennsylvania Rebellion, presented by The Coury Financial Group, took the battle late into the game, but ultimately fell in the seventh inning to the USSSA Pride by a final score of 5-0. Angel Bunner suffered the loss for Pennsylvania while Cat Osterman threw her second shutout of the series en route to her victory.

The contest stayed in a gridlock for most of the evening thanks to solid pitching and defense from both squads. The Pride threatened with a runner in scoring position in the top of the third, but Rebellion left fielder Angeline Quiocho had other plans, flashing the leather for a fantastic catch and keeping the score knotted at 0-0.

USSSA looked to plate a run again in the top of the sixth inning, but first baseman Courtney Liddle showed off her arm, firing a rocket to catcher Taylor Edwards for the inning-ending tag out at home. Through six innings, the Rebellion allowed just seven hits and no runs.

Pennsylvania’s parade began to see some rain in the top of the seventh when the Pride capitalized on two consecutive Rebellion blunders to take the score to 3-0. An RBI double by USSSA shortstop Madison Shipman followed by a walk by catcher Kristyn Sandberg with the bases loaded allowed the Pride to advance their lead to five runs. The deficit proved to be too much for Pennsylvania in their last at bats, giving the game and series victory to USSSA.

The Rebellion look to right the ship on the road as they travel out of the state to take on the Chicago Bandits for a four-game series beginning Thursday, July 10. All of the action can be found online at www.msasports.net/broadcasts.
