USSSA Florida Pride Signs Free Agents Washington & Tysarczyk

Kissimmee, FL—May 21, 2014The USSSA Florida Pride is pleased to announce the signing of two free agents, Bre’jae Washington out of the University of Texas, and Cassie Tysarczyk out of Texas A&M University.  Both athletes just finished their college careers with their respective universities, and will join the trio of rookies the Pride drafted in April.

Washington joins a trio of Longhorns on the Pride roster.  As an outfielder, Bre’jae was a four-year starter for Texas.  In her career Washington set career records for at bats (697), hits (254), triples (20), stolen bases (130), sacrifice hits (32) and is tied for the lead in sacrifice flies (31).   This season, Washington was included in the Top 25 Finalists for USA College Player of the Year. She was a three time All- Big 12 and a two-time All-Region selection.  In her senior campaign, she hit .417 with 73 hits and 50 runs scored.  She was also 33-37 in stolen bases.  Her career batting average of .364 ranks 3rd all time.

“Bre’jae brings an enormous amount of speed to our line up. Whether she’s playing in the outfield, or coming off the bench to pinch run, the speed she possesses was a big need for our team. She has the chance to learn from some of the best, and be a contributor to our team right away,” Don DeDonatis, General Manager of the USSSA Florida Pride stated.

“I’m so excited to be continuing my journey playing softball and joining my Texas alumni this summer,” Bre’jae Washington.

Tysarczyk, a natural lefty, joins the Pride after a four-year career at Texas A&M University. As a senior, Tysarczyk earned second team All- SEC honors as well as being named to the SEC All- Defensive team.  Tysarczyk hit .366 with 13 home runs, while committing only 1 error in right field. A career .301 hitter, Cassie leaves the Aggie program 4th in career runs scored (161), 7th in Home Runs (40) and RBIs (145), and tied for 6th in career walks (98). Prior to A&M’s move to the SEC, Tysarczyk was awarded first team All Big 12 honors in 2012.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to play with and learn from the best of the best. The USSSA Pride is an incredible opportunity, and I’m pumped to continue my playing career in Florida,” Tysarczyk said after signing.

DeDonatis added “Cassie’s reputation on and off the field is what makes her the perfect fit for our team. She will have the chance to learn from some of the best outfielders and left handed hitters in the game in order to prepare herself for what I hope is a long career in the Pride uniform.”
