Kissimmee, FL– July 21, 2016- The USSSA Florida Pride earned their tenth loss of the season following a 10-3 loss against the PA Rebellion Thursday night. The Rebellion had ten hits on the night and 7 RBIs to earn the win.
Olivia Watkins kicked things off reaching on a fielding error to lead it off for the Rebellion in the first. Watkins was then joined by Goler who drew the first walk of the contest to put two on with one out. From there, the Rebellion took advantage of a passed ball to score the first run of the ball game to make it 1-0. Keilani Ricketts then hit two batters, Sandberg and Peterson, back-to-back to load the bases and bring Mandy Ogle to the plate but Keilani ended the inning with her first strikeout of the night and forced Rhodes to fly out to right to end the top of the first.
In the bottom of the first, Kelly Kretschman made it a whole new ballgame with her 8th home run of the season to tie the ball game at one.
In the top of the second, Gomez kicked things off for the Rebellion with one out and drawing the second walk of the contest. She then proceeded to steal second to bring Olivia Watkins to the plate. Watkins struck out, Cordes then singled to right and placed Gomez on third. Goler then scored run number two with an infield single that landed dead middle in the field to score Gomez and make it 2-1, Rebellion.
In the third, Alexa Peterson kicked things off with a single to left. With one out, Jade Rhodes doubled to right center to score Peterson and put the Rebellion up 3-1.
The Pride once again tied the ballgame in the bottom of the 4th with a two-run shot by Lauren Chamberlain, her third of the season, but the Rebellion ended the carnage with a double play that ended the scoring.
In the top of the 5th, the Rebellion scored three more runs to make the score 6-3. Peterson scored on a throwing error then Gomez came in with a sacrifice fly to score two more with the throw getting away from Goodacre with the play at the plate. Goler then added her own shot one up the middle to give the Rebellion a 7-3 lead.
In the top of the 6th, Arion stepped up to the plate and sent one over the fence to score two following a one out single by Rhodes to make it 9-3.
In the 7th, following two back-to-back singles by Watkins and Cordes the Rebellion placed runners on the corners with no outs. Goler then put the ball in play and reached on a fielders choice that scored Watkins for a 10-3 lead.
The Pride could not get anymore runs on the board following a great offensive performance by the Rebellion.
Starting pitcher, Keilani Ricketts, tossed three innings before Chelsea Thomas came in for Ricketts in the third. Ricketts struck out four and kept the Rebellion to four hits. Thomas pitched four innings with one strikeout on the night but earned the loss.
The Pride look to continue the series against the Rebellion tomorrow night right here at ESPN Wide World of Sports, with first pitch set for 7PM (ET).
