Lessons from Lonni – The Honor of Being in the NPF

Kissimmee, FL-March 30, 2016-The USSSA Florida Pride are pleased to announce Florida State Head Coach Lonni Alameda has signed a contract to become the Pride’s head coach for the 2016 National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) season. The three-time ACC Coach of the year will lead a Pride team that finished as regular season champions a season ago.

Amid a busy NCAA softball schedule, FSU softball head coach Lonni Alameda sat down for her first interview with USSSA media.

In her eigth season as FSU softball head coach Lonni can add pro fastpitch head coach to her resume. She will be taking the pivotal role of head coach this summer with the USSSA Pride and hopes to lead the 2016 team with the same winning approach she’s taken with Florida State.

She has transformed the Florida State softball program since she took the position eight years ago and has led the Noles to a winning record of 26-3 for the current season.

Finally back in Florida following a series in North Carolina the Noles looked to take on UCF for a 5:30pm match-up but due to inclement weather the match was cancelled and re-scheduled for April 26th in Tallahassee.

USSSA media had the chance to speak one-on-one with Lonni Alameda before the Noles head back on the road to take on Notre Dame this weekend in a three-game series.

Lonni and the Noles recently finished their series against North Carolina and haven’t been in Florida since March 20th when they faced Syracuse in a 3-0 series shutout.

Last year, Coach Alameda brought Florida State to their first Women’s College World Series appearance since 2004 and hopes to reach the ultimate goal of last team standing for the 2016 season.

With only a few months before the NPF season fans are eager for the NPF summer to begin. The 2016 USSSA Pride season kicks off June 10th in Conroe, TX against the newest NPF Franchise, the Scrap Yard Dawgs.
