Baylor Enjoys Night With Team NPF

WACO – On a beautiful night in Central Texas, the Baylor softball team took on some of the best players in the world, falling to the National Professional Fastpitch (NPF) All Stars 8-0 Tuesday at Getterman Stadium.

“We said before this game that we were going to be performance based, not results based,” head coach Glenn Moore said. “I thought we did a good job of challenging every pitch and at-bat. They (NPF) are the best at what they do and they will make you pay for any mistake you make.”

A pair of first-inning home runs from Gionna DiSalvatore and Francesca Enea gave the All Stars a 5-0 lead after the top of the first.

The Lady Bears got a one-out double from Clare Hosack in the top of the first and had runners at the corners with two outs after Sarah Smith was hit by a pitch, but were unable to score.

Each team collected three hits through four innings before a pair of errors caused three NPF runs for the 8-0 lead.

Holly Holl and Robin Landrith each added a hit for BU on the night.

The Lady Bears, who wrapped up fall action Tuesday night, end with a 7-1 mark and 10 home runs during fall play.

“I really like this team and I know they are going to work really hard in the offseason,” Moore said. “As I step back and assess our entire fall, I can tell you this is going to be a really exciting season at Getterman Stadium. I think with this offense and Whitney Canion back in the circle, fans are going to be in for a treat come spring.”
