SOUTHAVEN, Miss. – Going up against the best softball players in the world, the Mississippi State softball team lost by a score of 19-3 in five innings Sunday afternoon to the National Pro Fastpitch All-Stars at South Panola High School in Batesville, Miss. The Bulldogs dropped to 1-1 in this year’s fall exhibition schedule, while the NPF All-Stars improved to 46-1 all-time against collegiate squads in the three-year history of the NPF Back to School Tour.

For the second consecutive day, senior outfielder Jessica Cooley paved the way for the Bulldog bats, finishing 1-for-2 with a run and two stolen bases. Fellow senior Shelby Fisher and junior Heidi Shape both belted out doubles and accounted for the other two State runs scored. On top of Shape’s RBI double, the other two RBIs came from base knocks by redshirt junior Erin Nesbit (1-for-3) and freshman infielder Olivia Golden (1-for-2).
