Kissimmee, FL—June 18, 2016—The USSSA Pride looked like they would be shut out in their series finale against the Chicago Bandits. The Pride trailed all game until the sixth inning when they scored four runs.
Hallie Wilson runs onto the field before a game against the Chicago Bandits
The Bandits hit two home runs in this series finale. Brittany Cervantes opened up the scoring in the first inning with a solo home run in the first inning. They scored again in the fourth when Taylor Edwards sent a hard hit over the left field fence. After giving up a three-run fifth inning, the Pride came back with a four-run sixth inning to bring the score within one at 5-4.
The scoring was started following an error, a hit-by-pitch and a walk for the Pride. Catcher Chelsea Goodacre came up with a clutch single to drive in two runs and bring the Pride within three runs. Two more runs came in after Courtney Ceo delivered a two-out, bases-loaded single that drove in Goodacre and Hallie Wilson.
The Bandits were sat down in order, and the Pride looked like they might take the lead in the bottom of the seventh. Kelly Kretschman, Shelby Pendley and Wilson all delivered singles to load the bases. The two-outs, bases loaded situation provided another opportunity for Goodacre to save the day. However, after putting up a battle with a 10-pitch at-bat, Goodacre struck out on a perfect rise ball to end the game. The Pride dropped the finale to the Bandits 5-4.
Final Score:
Chicago Bandits: 5
USSSA Pride: 4
