Pride Hit Their Way into Another Victory

VIERA, FL (June 19, 2018) The USSSA Pride had hot bats as they took game two of the series against the Cleveland Comets with a convincing 9-0 win moving them to a NPF-best 11-0 on the season.

Jessica Burroughs got the start in the circle and the win for the night’s game, as she threw a four-hit shutout in her five innings. She only allowed four hits and struck out one. Burroughs improved her season record to 4-0.

Kesley Nunley came into pitch in the top of the sixth inning. She didn’t give up a hit and struck out three.

In the bottom of the third the Pride got it going with Sierra Romero’s line drive up the middle to score Nicole Pendley from third to put the Pride in the lead 1-0.

N. Pendley kept it going, in the bottom of the fourth for the Pride, as she roped one down the right field line as she scored her first NPF triple to drive in Sahvanna Jaquish that increased the lead to 2-0.

Kirsti Merritt, who went 3-4 with 2 RBIs on the night, drove in N. Pendley to put the Pride up 3-0.

Shelby Pendley broke it open in the bottom of the fifth. Romero led off the inning with a single up the middle and stole second, right after S. Pendley hit one far over the right field fence for the first homerun of the night. This put the Pride in the lead by 5-0.

Nicole DeWitt debuted her first professional hit with a solo homerun, adding to the Pride lead 6-0.

In the bottom of sixth, Merritt led it off with a solo homerun for the USSSA Pride and furthered the lead to 7-0.

Shortly after Merritt’s homerun, Romero drives one over center field fence for another solo homerun putting the Pride up 8-0.

S. Pendley came up big again as she hit her second solo homerun on the night. Because of her stellar performance at the plate, S. Pendley was named the Vaultz Lock It Up Player of the Game. She went 2-4 with 2 runs and 3 RBIs.

Romero and N. Pendley both had a great game at the plate. Romero went 2-4 with 2 runs and 2 RBIs, while N. Pendley went 2-3, 2 runs, and 1 RBI

In total the Pride hit five homeruns in the ball game.

The Pride will compete in the last game of the series June 20 against the Comets.
