Pride drop series finale to Scrap Yard Dawgs 1-0

Kissimmee, FL—August 2, 2016—The Pride dropped their series finale in Tallahassee to the Scrap Yard Dawgs in a tight 1-0 ball game. The Dawgs scored the only run of the game in the first inning, and offenses for both teams were quiet following the run.

The Pride offense was largely quiet for a majority of the game. The picked up only three hits over all seven innings and got just five runners on base. Rookie Haylie McCleney, Shelby Pendley and Hallie Wilson racked up the only Pride hits of the game.

Scrap Yard starting pitcher Rachel Fox (4.86 ERA) had a strong outing, allowing just two hits over four innings pitched. She struck out one and allowed no walks. Monica Abbott relieved Fox in the fifth inning. The million-dollar southpaw tossed three innings of one-hit ball, giving up one walk and striking out two. Abbott lowered her ERA to 0.76.

Despite getting the loss in tonight’s game, Keilani Ricketts was dominant in her ninth start of the season. She struck out four and scattered five hits while walking none over five innings pitched. Jordan Taylor came in as relief and continued her season-long dominance. Taylor lowered her ERA from 0.75 to 0.70 after allowing no runs in her two innings of no-hit ball.

The Pride return to action on Wednesday when they face the Chicago Bandits for the final time this regular-season in a three-game series in Rosemont, IL.
