2016 Season
USSSA Pride Head to Rosemont, IL to Face Chicago Bandits
Kissimmee, FL—July 5, 2016—Following a five-day break, the USSSA Pride return to action tonight Tuesday, July 5. They will once again take on the Chicago Bandits after defeating them twice at Michigan before the break. They will face the Bandits in a two-game series in Rosemont, IL before they head to San Diego where they will face the Dallas Charge in Torero territory.
This series comes following three wins at Michigan: one against the Akron Racers and two against the Bandits. With those three wins last week, the Pride picked up their fifteenth win, their eighth consecutive, and improved to 15-3 overall.
This time around, Chicago will seek to take advantage of their home field. While the last two games against the Pride have been technically on neutral ground, they were played with the Pride acting as the home team. With a home record of .500, the Bandits hope that the home field advantage will make a difference in their results facing the league-leading Pride.

Pride players to watch
- Kirsti Merritt: Playing in all 18 games for the Pride this season, Merritt is proving to be a productive part of the batting order. A magnet for off-target pitches, she leads the team in HBP (4) and is second in on-base percentage (.490) and walks (8). As a result of her talent for getting on base, Merritt is tied for fourth on the team in runs scored (9) proving that patience is key to success.
- Jolene Henderson: With a team-leading 0.53 ERA and a perfect 5-0 record, Henderson is looking like an ace on a staff that contains four pitchers with ERAs under 3.00. In 26.1 innings pitched, Henderson struck out 21 batters while walking just four.
- Sierra Romero: It appears that Romero has found her comfort zone for her career in the pros. After a rocky start following her record-breaking performance in college, she has smacked three home runs and has climbed the Pride ranks to be one of the top hitters on the team. Romero places second on her team in at least five offensive categories, including: batting average (.385 ), SLG (.744), RBI (12), doubles (3) and home runs (3).
