Kissimmee, FL—June 24, 2016—The USSSA Pride will face their first non-Rebellion opponent since June 15 when they take on the Akron Racers for the first time this series. They will face the Racers in a two-game, two-day series this weekend (June 25 and 26).

The Pride completed their final away series with the Rebellion on Friday. Following the series finale on Friday night, they played the Pennsylvania team in seven consecutive contests, and finished with a record of 5-2 against the Rebellion and a 10-3 record overall. The Pride will look to leave Akron with two more wins to add to their impressive record.

Series Schedule

Saturday, June 25, 7:00 PM (ET)

Sunday, June 26, 4:00 PM (ET)

Pride players to watch:

  • Kelly Kretschman is putting up stellar numbers. She is leading her team in 10 offensive categories, including AVG (.528), SLG (.778), OBP (.578), runs scored (9), hits (19), RBI (12), doubles (t-3), total bases (28), sac flies (2) and stolen bases (6). She also leads the league in AVG (.528), SLG (t-.778) and OBP (.578).
  • Shelby Pendley is following Kretschman in the lineup with nearly equally incredible numbers. She is leading the team in four offensive categories and places second in four more. She is the leader in doubles, (t-3), home runs (3), walks (t-6) and stolen base percentage (1.000); she is second in SLG (.639), RBI (9), total bases (23) and sac flies (1).
  • Chelsea Goodacre, playing in 10 of the Pride’s total 12 games, is batting .308 and slugging .615 with a .333 OBP. She has shown decent power in her 10 games played, hitting two home runs and four extra-base hits. As a catcher, Goodacre 44 put outs, proving to be a wall behind the plate.
  • Kelsey Nunley, in 14.1 innings pitched, has allowed just six hits and four earned runs, giving up just one extra-base hit (one double). Opponents are batting just .125 against Nunley, the lowest opponent batting average of any of the Pride pitchers. Often coming in as relief, Nunley has shown to be a reliable pitcher to get her team out of a jam.

About the Akron Racers

With the Pride currently leading the league, the Racers are right on their heels, just one game back. They are 6-4 in their last 10 games and on a three-game win streak. While the Pride defense leads the league in ERA (2.05) and fielding percentage (.983), the Racers offense leads the league in team batting average (.304) and runs scored (95). The Racers appear to be the opposing force to the Pride’s solid defense, and each team will pose a threat to the other’s strength. Akron will meet the Pride with momentum and try to take over the first-place spot in the league.
