Dallas Charge Up Next for Pride

usssa pride charge

Kissimmee, FL – June 13, 2016 – The USSSA Pride remain in Texas as they begin their second series of the season against the Dallas Charge in McKinney, TX. The games will be played in a two-day, two-game series at The Ballfields At Craig Ranch, home of the Charge.

The Pride begin the series after completing their season-opening games, a four-game series against the Scrap Yard Dawgs that included a Monday double-header.

The Pride come off their previous series sitting at a 3-1 record. In games against the Charge last season, the Pride secured a winning record of 9-3. Of their nine wins, two were shutouts, and five were won by four or more runs.

Series Schedule

Tuesday, June 14th, 8:30 (ET) (NPFTV)

Wednesday, June 15th, 8:30 (ET) (NPFTV)

Pride players to watch:

  • Megan Wiggins: Despite a slow offensive start, Wiggins is leading her team in batting average (.455), OBP (.455), hits (5), and total bases (8).
  • Kelly Kretschman: Kretschman continued her Player-of-the-Year behavior last series, leading the team in runs scored (3) and RBI (5)
  • GiOnna Salvatore: A quiet leader for the Pride, Salvatore is third on her team in three categories: batting average, SLG and OBP. Consistently batting in the four and five spots in the lineup, look for her to start being a driving force for the Pride offense.
  • Shelby Pendley: Another slow starter on the offensive side, Pendley seemed to show signs of her Rookie-of-the-Year self when she unleashed a two-run homer against the Scrap Yard Dawgs on Saturday. She is now second on the team in batting average (.400) and first in SLG (.800).

About the Charge

With a roster of 22 players, 16 of them are either playing as a rookie or have just one year of professional experience under their belts. The young team has posted a 4-3 record. So far, the Charge have yet to face just two teams in the 2016 season: the Scrap Yard Dawgs and the Pride. With their .571 record, they also have yet to lose two consecutive games. They have either tied or won all of their series, including a series taken from the defending NPF champions, the Chicago Bandits. The Charge look to pose a challenge to the Pride as they try to take both games and keep their winning record to start the season.
