2015 Season Game Recaps
Pride Take Series Sweep and Defeat Rebellion 3-0
WASHINGTON, PA—July 12, 2015— The Pride take the series sweep with a game four win over the Pennsylvania Rebellion with a final score 3-0. For the third time in this weekend, the PA Rebellion were unable to record a run against the visiting USSSA Pride. Hannah Rogers (2-2) picked up the win in the circle on the afternoon, while Haylie Wagner suffered the loss.
After a solo home run from catcher Chelsea Goodacre (2-3, 1 RBI) gave the Pride the early advantage in the second, USSSA added their final two runs in the top of the fourth. Starting with a Brigette Del Ponte single to center that started the Pride’s offense followed by a Goodacre hit. Andrea Duran layed down a sacrifice bunt that moved both runners over to scoring position that led to a sacrifice fly from offensive player Amanda Kamekona. Immediately after GiOnna DiSalvatore brought in an RBI to put the Rebellion behind by a margin of three.
Pennsylvania looked to respond in the bottom half of the inning when first baseman Alisa Goler and catcher Kristyn Sandberg recorded back-to-back singles. Third baseman Brittney Lindley added another base hit later in the at bat to load the bases, but Rogers was able to work out of the jam and keep the deficit at three runs. The Pride threatened to add to their lead in the top of the sixth when Goodacre sent a fly ball to deep right field, but Rebellion right fielder Alexa Peterson was able to make the impressive catch and rob Goodacre of her second solo shot of the night.
A pitching change that placed Jordan Taylor on the mound in the seventh with two outs led to the final out of the game. Despite a two-out single from shortstop Whitney Arion and a double from second baseman Haruna Sakamoto, the Rebellion were unable to score in the seventh, securing the Sunday afternoon loss. Win the series sweep against the PA Rebellion the USSSA Pride improve to 19-7.
