NPF Fantasy League is Launched

Published on

Nashville- National Pro Fastpitch announced today the launch of the National Pro Fastpitch Fantasy League (NPFFL). The League is a free fantasy sports game and will follow traditional fantasy league formats. The National Pro Fastpitch Fantasy League will begin competition along with the 2012 NPF regular season. Opening Day for the 2012 NPF season is June 7.

The NPF Fantasy League allows fans to draft a fantasy roster of 17 players. Participants are vying to choose the best line-up to perform during each week of the NPF season based on the team they have drafted. Points are accumulated based on a points system that rewards participants through live player performances and the player statistics accumulated. A participant begins by drafting players by position (two catchers, four pitchers, six infielders, five outfielders, etc.) Each week participants can change their lineup based on the players drafted.

Fans have two different draft options. Those options include joining the public NPF Fantasy League, which will pit participants against other NPF fans and NPFFL participants throughout the country, or creating a private league to compete against friends and/or colleagues.

“We are very much looking forward to launching this product for the 2012 season,” commented NPF Commissioner, Cheri Kempf. “Fantasy Leagues are incredibly popular for nearly every sport in the world and the NPF should be a part of that. We hope this will involve fans with our teams and players in a way they have not previously been able to experience, but will surely appreciate.”

Participants will have the rosters of the four affiliate NPF franchise clubs to choose from which include the Akron Racers, Carolina Diamonds, Chicago Bandits, and USSSA Florida Pride. Each NPF team is allowed a maximum of twenty players, so the player pool available for the NPF Fantasy League will include eighty total athletes.

The 2012 season begins June 7 and runs through August 19. The season includes 88 total games of competition prior to the Championship Series held this year at the Ballpark at Rosemont, in Rosemont, IL August 26-29. All 88 games will be streamed live and available through team and league websites. On June 23, two games are set to be streamed live on ESPN3, in celebration of the 40th anniversary of Title IX.

To draft an NPF Fantasy team, participants can go to the Fantasy League Page on the NPF website. The NPFFL is the first fantasy league created for fastpitch softball and was developed by Pointstreak Sports Technologies Inc., especially for the National Pro Fastpitch League
