MARION, Il. – The Pride cruised past the NPF Diamonds, 11-0, Friday night from Rent One Park. Cat Osterman led the way, for her first complete game shutout of the season, moving her record to 6-2 in 2011. Megan Gibson took the loss, after allowing eight runs in two and two-third innings. Natasha Watley, Andrea Duran and Lauren Lappin led the offensive attack for the Pride in the first of four games from Rent One Park this weekend.
Pitching a great game, Cat Osterman, worked all seven innings where she allowed no runs off just two hits en route to her league-leading sixth win of the season. The lefty struck out 12 batters, while walking just three for her first complete game shutout of the season. After fatigue set-in late in the game, Osterman battled through to get out of back-to-back bases loaded jams in the sixth and seventh innings respectively.
Natasha Watley set the pace, as the leadoff hitter struck for three hits, two RBIs and one run scored. Catcher Lauren Lappin had two hits, three RBIs and two runs scored. Andrea Duran also had two hits, two runs scored and one RBI in the ballgame. All but two of the Pride starters had hits Friday night.
The Pride struck for five runs off five hits in the first inning. They would score at least a run in each of the first four innings of the game.
Starting pitcher for the Diamonds, Megan Gibson, allowing eight runs off nine hits. She moves her record to 1-4 on the season with the loss. Morgan Melloh relieved her and was very solid, working four and one-third innings of three-run ball. The lefty struck out six Pride hitters while walking just two.
