Selma High to dedicate field after Duran
Selma High is naming its softball field after former Bears star Andrea Duran — now a star for USSSA Pride
Duran, a 2002 graduate of Selma High, will be honored in at 3 p.m. Friday ceremony at Selma, which will rededicate its field “Duran Diamond.”
Duran has been a mainstay for the U.S. team since graduating from UCLA in 2006. She earned a silver medal in the 2008 Olympics with the U.S. team and also is a three-time World Cup champion (2006, 2007 and 2009), a Pan American gold medalist (2007) and a two-time World champion (2006 and 2010).
She plays professionally for the USSSA Pride and was part of the 2010 World Championship team. Watch Duran and your other Pride players again this summer when the 2011 season kicks off on June 11 in Orlando, FL at Disney Wide World of Sports Complex. The game will also be broadcasted on ESPN at 3:00 pm.
