Viera, FL- October 4, 2017 – Throughout September, 6-year USSSA Pride veteran and 3-time All-NPF performer, Jordan Taylor, organized and executed an auction for Childhood Cancer Awareness month. Jordan raised $5,500 for the 7th Floor Family Life fund at C.S. Mott’s Children’s Hospital Pediatric Center Unit in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Using game-worn jerseys autographed by each USSSA Pride player, Jordan opened an ebay auction page where fans could bid on their favorite player’s uniform. USSSA Pride second basemen and 2016 NCAA Player of the Year, Sierra Romero’s jersey brought in the most donations raising $1,000.78 for the fund. Kelly Kretschman and Jessica Burroughs jersey’s also ignited a lot of attention from fans raising around $700 each.
Taylor’s efforts began in 2012. Since then her foundation has blossomed into a National Professional Fastpitch league wide endeavor. She hosted four “So You Think You Can Hit” events throughout the season, June-August, raising $5,000 total. Donations went to three hospitals around the country including: Children’s Mercy in Kansas City, Missouri, Akron Children’s Hospital in Akron, Ohio, and C.S. Mott’s Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
