ROUND ROCK, Tex. – June 28, 2014 – Game 1 – Brittany Cervantes brought her hot bat to the field on Saturday as her two home runs carried the Bandits to a 6-4 victory over the USSSA Pride in game one of Saturday’s doubleheader at Dell Diamond.
Game one went back-and-forth through all seven innings with the teams exchanging the lead four different times.
Ellen Renfroe got the start for the Bandits in the circle with Olivia Galati getting the call for the Pride.
With the Pride up 1-0 in the first, Cervantes tied things up in the second with a solo shot to center. Tammy Williams followed that up with a solo home run of her own to give the Bandits a 2-1 lead. Hits by Kaylyn Castillo and Danielle Zymkowitz extended the Bandits lead to 4-1.
A pitching change for the Pride in the second brought Chelsea Thomas into the game, while Michelle Gascoigne came into the game for the Bandits in the fourth.
Renfroe pitched three innings for the Bandits giving up three runs on five hits with one strikeout, while Galati lasted just 1.2 innings, surrendering three runs on four hits.
The Pride came back to tie things up in the fourth inning off homers by Kelly Kretschman and Jessica Schults as they game stayed at four runs a piece until the seventh inning.
In the Bandits half of inning, with Kristen Butler on base after drawing a walk, Cervantes smacked her second home run of the game to center field, giving the Bandits their final lead of the night as they went on to defeat the Pride for the first time in the series, 6-4.
Gascoigne picked up her second win of the season tonight giving up just one run on three hits with four strikeouts in four innings of work, while Thomas suffered the loss for the Pride.

ROUND ROCK, Tex. – June 28, 2014 – Game 2 – Monica Abbott stepped into the circle for game two of the doubleheader at Dell Diamond, lifting the Bandits to a 3-0 shutout of the USSSA Pride and evening the series at two games apiece.
Cheyenne Coyle gave the Bandits their first run of the game with a sac fly to center field, scoring Tammy Williams. Kaylyn Castillo added to the Bandits lead with a solo shot to left field in the fourth making it a two run ball game, while Kristen Butler’s single in the fifth to score Emily Allard, gave the Bandits their third and final run of the night.
Jordan Taylor suffered the loss for the Pride pitching four innings while giving up two runs on five hits with one strikeout. Blair Luna and Danielle
Lawrie finished out the game for the Pride, giving up a combined eight hits and allowing one run with four strikeouts.
Abbott improved to 3-1 on the season with tonight’s complete game victory; allowing just three hits while retiring 12 Pride batters.
