Pride Take Game 3 of Series; Win 11-6

Baton Rouge, LA- Brittany Mack was sent to the mound for the Pride in the 2nd game of a double header to face Diamond pitcher Sarah Plourde.

The Diamonds offense picked up right where they started in the first game. Four singles by the Diamonds in the 2nd inning would score 2 runs and take the Diamonds to a 2-0 lead at the end of the second.

In a unique turn of events, the Pride put up 2 runs in the 3rd inning without recording a hit. Four walks by Sarah Plourde and 2 wild pitches would bring in 2 runs for the Pride and even the score at 2-2.

The Diamonds Kelsi Weseman would hit a solo home run to put Carolina up 3-2.

The Pride offense would finally come alive in the fourth inning, as a 3 run home run by Tonya Callahan brought the Pride out to their first lead of the day at 5-3. After two walks, Caitlin Lowe would capitalize for the Pride, lacing a 2 RBI double to center, extending the Pride’s lead to 7-3.

Singles by McKinney, Lever, and Weisman, with a double by DiSalvatore would score 3 runs and bring the Diamonds within a run in the 5th.

The Pride would fire right back in the sixth when Sandberg would single in Mendoza to extend the lead 8-6. A double by Kelsey Bruder would score Jamee Juarez would pinch ran for Sandberg. Another huge hit by Callahan would extend the lead, doubling home Charters and Bruder, making the score 11-6 at the end of the 6th.

Cat Osterman would hang on for the Pride to get the save, giving Brittany Mack the win for the Pride. Brittany Mack got her second win for the USSSA Pride despite allowing six runs over 4 2/3 innings. She struck out four, walked one and surrendered nine hits.

Sara Plourde couldn’t get it done in the circle for the Carolina Diamonds, taking a loss. She allowed six runs in 3 2/3 innings, walked five and struck out five.
