Mansfield, TX – June 23, 2014 – USSSA Pride jumped out to an early lead on the Akron Racers and captured a 10-1 victory on Monday at Big League Dreams Park in Mansfield, TX.
Six runs in the first three innings, and a two-run home run by Kristyn Sandberg in the second helped the USSSA Pride put the game away early. Sandberg racked up two RBIs on one hit for the USSSA Pride.
Akron Racers couldn’t get anything going on Pride pitcher Keilani Ricketts. The Racers managed just one hit off of Ricketts, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out four during her three innings of work.
Nerissa Myers homered in the third inning for the Akron Racers and also reached base twice scoring one run and collecting one RBI.
After a quick strike from Akron Racers, the USSSA Pride responded with four runs in the third. A two-run double by Bridgette DelPonte and a two-run home run by Amanda Kamekona accounted for all four runs.
Cat Osterman picked up the win for the USSSA Pride allowing only one run over four innings. Osterman struck out five, walked one and gave up three hits.
Rachele Fico took the loss for the Akron Racers allowing six runs in 2 2/3 innings, walking two and striking out one.
The Racers and Pride continue to battle tonight, June 24 in game two of the four game series. First pitch is set for 8:00 pm ET, 7:00 pm CT. All action can be watched on LIVE STATS on GameChanger.
