Los Angeles– April 15, 2014- Former Valencia softball standout Madison Shipman, a shortstop at Tennessee, was the second overall pick Monday in the National Pro Fastpich Draft in Nashville.
Shipman was selected by the USSSA Pride and was the first position player drafted after Arizona State pitcher Dallas Escobedo went first overall to the Pennsylvania Rebellion.
Cheyenne Coyle, a Chatsworth graduate and Arizona State shortstop, was the first pick in the fourth round and 13th overall by the Chicago Bandits, the defending NPF regular-season champions.
Shipman and Coyle were two of 20 athletes selected in the second annual draft.
